Outdoor Recreation

Capitol Lake - The park serves as a setting for environmental and recreational visitors alike. The park reinforces the state’s heritage through county markers along the lake’s edge, wetlands to the south that signify the state’s coastal areas, and a bluff on the north side that represents the state’s arid eastern areas. The trail 1.5 mile trail also connects to the Hillside Trail, which features a series of gentle switchbacks leading up to the Capitol Campus.

Yashiro Japanese Garden is only .74 Acres, located at 1010 Plum Street SE. The garden represents a joint effort of the Olympia-Yashiro Sister City Association and the City of Olympia. The garden is symbolic of the ties between Olympia and Yashiro, Japan. Picnic Area, Waterfall into pond, bamboo.

Watershed Park - Deep in the park is the Moxlie Creek Springs Basin, one of the largest spring basins in the region. Beneath the towering, temperate rain forest canopy, the spring branches braid through 153-acres of skunk cabbages and salmonberries to create Moxlie Creek. The park's trail system, although steep and stepped in locations, provides one of the City's best walking experiences.

Capitol Campus - The Washington State Capitol Campus has many sights and attractions for visitors to enjoy. Many are outdoors, and so can be visited every day, all year round. Some buildings are open to the public most days, while others can only be viewed as part of a tour. Free tours are offered 7 days a week.
